The Apprenticeship Community continues to build it’s ‘community of care’ by supporting WA charities

The Apprenticeship Community takes great pride in being an active member of the WA community, which is why we’re excited to have donated to three local organisations who make a difference in the lives of others.

The Apprenticeship Community is dedicated to creating what we like to call a ‘community of care’, aiming to provide tailored support and guidance to individuals as well as working to support the wider WA community.

The Heart of our Community: The Apprenticeship Community’s initiative to support charities who help WA communities

As a proud community-based not-for-profit organisation, The Apprenticeship Community wants to put a spotlight on three charities making a difference in our community.

Our charities of choice

The Apprenticeship Community is thrilled to have donated to each of our selected three charities, who were each chosen for their strong alignment to The Apprenticeship Community’s ethos of building a ‘community of care’ and their dedication to strengthening WA communities. We are proud to support the following organisations:

  • Ronald McDonald House Charities WA

Since 1990, Ronald McDonald House Charities Western Australia (RMHC WA) has been providing a home away from home for WA families of seriously ill children receiving hospital treatment in Perth.

RMHC WA – Silly Socks 4 Sick Kids

Legs get together to help seriously ill kids get back on their feet!

Over the weekend of Friday 2nd – Sunday 4th August, we want you to wear a pair of Silly Socks for a gold coin donation to support Ronald McDonald House Charities WA.

Funds raised will help us to provide a ‘home away from home’ for regional WA families with a seriously ill child receiving vital medical treatment in Perth.

Step 1: Register your school, sporting club or workplace to receive your Silly Socks Fundraising Pack
Step 2: Let everyone know about the day and why they should get involved
Step 3: Pull up your Silly Socks, make your gold coin donation and have some fun!

The Apprenticeship Community will be participating in the Silly Socks fundraiser on 2nd August and we’d love for you to get involved too! For more info click here.

  • MATES in Construction

MATES in Construction is a charity established in 2008 to reduce the high level of suicide among Australian construction workers.

  • The Wirrpanda Foundation

The Wirrpanda Foundation exists to improve the quality of life for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People by working together to empower and build capacity amongst Aboriginal individuals, their families and their communities.

Partnerships Executive at Ronald McDonald House Charities WA, Matthew Correia, says that the donation from The Apprenticeship Community will help to keep WA families close. “The Heart of our Community program is an impactful way to support WA families of seriously ill children stay close to important medical treatment that their sick child needs.”

The Apprenticeship Community’s state manager, Joanne Eagle, hopes that this initiative will be another reason employers choose The Apprenticeship Community for their apprentice and trainee recruitment and retention needs. “The Apprenticeship Community is so much more than simply signing up apprentices and trainees – we’re dedicated to supporting WA and its people on so many levels. We’re so proud to have created our ‘community of care’ with a suite of community-focused supports that sets us apart from our counterparts.”

  • Volunteer days: We support the local community by providing volunteer days to our team members – our staff love giving back!
  • Mental health awareness initiative: Our Good 2 Go program designed in collaboration with The Black Dog Institute aims to help employers and employees build mentally healthy workplaces.
  • Mentoring: For all apprentices and trainees throughout the life of their training program, providing tools to address issues at work or personal problems.
