Austal Apprentice of the Year Awards 2016

The renowned annual Austal Apprentice of the Year Awards were hosted on the 8th of December 2016 in Henderson, and attended by Austal Apprentices and various Supervisors, Coordinators, Managers TAFE lecturers, families of nominated Apprentices. The Apprenticeship Community team; Jade Ackroyd, Jo Eagle, Gillian Mullins and Barry Grosser were also in attendance to show their full support for these very important awards that aim to recognise the hardwork and determination shown by many talented apprentices.  Austal’s CEP David Singleton and Head of Production Phil Growden spoke at the event, congratulating the Apprentice Group on their success this year and outlined upcoming opportunities for these individuals as they progress through their careers. The awards this year also saw guest speaker, 2015 Australian Apprentice of the Year – Jared Stone, address attending apprentices giving an insight into his experiences as an Apprentice. Congratulations to the following recipients of the 2016 Apprentice of the Year Awards:

  • New Apprentice of the Year: Daniel Tapper (Fitout)
  • Most Improved Apprentice of the Year: Jacob Scott (engineering)
  • Business Values Award: Nielwin Berana (fabrication)
  • Apprentice Leadership Award: Harrison Wallis (Engineering)
  • Supervisor of the Year: Corey Pickering (Fitout)
  • Department of the Year (Fitout)

Special congratulations to the Overall Apprentice of the Year, Harrison Wallis from Engineering.
